Twins and Multiples

Twins are twice the love, but half the sleep.

A single newborn baby needs to be fed every 1-3 hours. If you’re expecting your first baby or set of twins, you may be asking yourself, “when will I sleep?”. When you arrive at home, your schedule will coincide with theirs, and sleep inevitably becomes priceless. The key to navigating life with twins is to get organized and have the right support because, well, things get busy with two!

We provide daytime or overnight care that ultimately helps families get the sleep they need, establish a healthy daily and nightly routine, and ensure good sleep for all. (It’s possible… even with twins!).

During our shift, we will tend to all of the needs of your babies:

  • Diapering

  • Changing

  • Bathing (first sponge bath, then regular bath)

  • Soothing

  • Circumcision & umbilical cord care

  • Bottle preparation & storage

  • Bottle feeding (Breastmilk & Formula)

  • Communication with breastfeeding parent to schedule feeds and transport babies back and forth to and from (when feeding overnight)

  • Wash and sterilize bottles, pump parts, pacifiers, etc.

  • Organization & maintenance of nursery

  • Newborn laundry (washing, folding, and putting away)

  • Create a regular feeding schedule

  • Assist in establishing healthy sleep habits

  • Keep nursery tidy and stocked

  • Maintain a log that tracks feeding times, ounces, diapers, and anything else parents may need to know.

  • Create a smooth transition for the family during the newborn stage (birth-3 months)

  • Assist you with any (baseline) feeding issues baby may have, including formula feeding and breastfeeding support or knowing when to recommend pediatrician or IBCLC support for extensive issues.

  • Troubleshoot potential issues of concern with the newborn and offer professional options to resolve them

  • Infant CPR (when needed)

  • Providing a safe and healthy sleep environment for babies at all times

  • Sleep Conditioning by using a gentle approach to help your babies develop sleep habits that lead to sleeping throughout the night

  • Parent education and emotional support

Your Newborn Care Specialist will also walk you through step-by-step processes of how to swaddle your babies, proper cleaning and sterilizing bottles and pump parts, tips to soothe your babies and more.

We do not offer medical advice or diagnosis.
