We can’t prepare you for the diaper blowouts, but for everything else, we have your back!
Our private Newborn Care Class is uniquely designed for new and expecting parents who are interested in learning how to navigate those first few months with a newborn. It includes demonstrations for practical support, and Q+A session to ensure all of your lingering questions are answered. We’ve got you covered, from the first sponge bath to establishing healthy sleep habits.
What You’ll Learn:
-
This is all about how to get prepared for life with a newborn and setting realistic expectations. When you bring your baby back home feeling prepared and confident, you’ll have a more seamless (and quite enjoyable) transition into parenthood!
-
Learn what to expect with a full-term newborn and what to look for in skin, sensory development, reflexes, and appearance.
-
We will cover the benefits of breastfeeding for mother and baby, engorgement, latch, cluster feeding, hand expression, tips to boost milk supply, tongue tie, and when to contact an IBCLC (don’t worry, you’ll also learn what an IBCLC is!).
-
Introducing a bottle is a big step for a newborn. We’re covering all the bases so you can feel confident and informed when feeding time rolls around. Learn tips from the pro — how to effectively feed your baby a bottle, prevent gas and have less likelihood of spit ups.
-
It’s more than keeping your baby safe—it’s understanding the unique needs of your baby and how to care for them in all stages. Topics include the first bath, umbilical cord care, and hygiene.
-
Learn how to handle diapering with ease and confidence while understanding how to properly care for diaper-related issues.
-
Sometimes, newborns just need a bit of soothing to calm down and regain their center. However, there are safer and more effective ways to soothe than others—and we’re teaching you exactly what they are.
-
Transitioning to tummy time is an exciting milestone for both mother and baby. Learn how, where, when, and why you should implement tummy time with your baby.
-
Newborns get sick just like everyone else—but caring for a sick newborn is quite different than caring for your sick significant other. We’re preparing you to feel confident and knowledgeable, whether it’s just a slight cold or something more.
-
Sleepy time can be the most peaceful part of the day or the most frustrating—we’re preparing you for both. Topics include: Sleep cues, newborn sleep, SIDS, swaddling, healthy sleep habits, and a gentle and effective approach to sleep.
