However, you may be wondering how much all of this will cost me? That’s why we’re here to tell you exactly how much does a night nanny cost and how you can afford them!

What Is a Night Nanny?

A night nanny, night doula, or overnight care specialist share a central focus; taking care of your newborn overnight, so you get the rest you deserve. This way, you, your family, and your newborn get the individualized care they need.

How Much Does a Night Nanny Cost in Rhode Island?

The answer to this isn’t as cut and dry as you might think, as many factors go into pricing. At Baby Bloom Newborn Care, we create prices based on what it takes to pay our providers a living wage in Rhode Island and keep them with us in this highly competitive market.

Families, of course, have the option to source their newborn care provider, but they choose to work with Baby Bloom instead! It’s because of our reputation, extensive hiring process, free sleep coaching, and backup care.

At Baby Bloom, we charge a flat, hourly rate for single newborn babies and a slightly higher rate for multiple newborns. When you get our rate from us, there are never any extra or hidden fees; what we quote you is what you pay us.

The hourly rate ranges from $40-$70 per hour, depending on several factors to meet your unique needs.

What Services Do You Need Your Night Nanny to Perform?

Overnight nannies offer various services to choose from, and what you need will affect your price. Essential services such as overnight feedings, changing/diapering, and bathing when necessary should automatically be included in a night nanny’s duties. Plus, at Baby Bloom, all of our contracts include sleep coaching.

However, the price could be higher when you add services such as nursery cleaning or baby laundry services. Be sure to talk with your night nanny to see what’s included in their services and the price difference between those.

How Long Do You Want the Nanny to Be With You?

Ideally, you’ll want your overnight nanny to start with you the first night with your newborn. This way, you get the sleep you deserve, and your baby receives the specialized care they need. Then, you’ll want them to be with you for at least the next three months, but you may choose to keep them for up to six months.

By four months old, your newborn may be sleeping longer stretches than 2-3 hours at a time, which some consider being through the night. At that time, you may consider ending night care, or you may want to continue until they sleep longer. So, how long you have your nanny is entirely up to you.

Talk with your night nanny about how long they think it will take for your baby and you to get on a good night routine.

What Would You Like Your Night Nanny Schedule to Be?

Newborns up to three months old wake up to eat every one to three hours. At the very minimum, you’ll want your overnight nanny there long enough so you can sleep through the night. We recommend having them there for at least 9 hours, but ideally, they’ll be there for 10-12. This way, you can see them before you go to sleep and talk about what you’d like them to do while they’re there.

Some families only have their night nannies come on weeknights, whereas others prefer to have them come seven days a week. The more you have them come, the more you should expect it to cost.

The best way to get an accurate price is to schedule a free consultation before giving birth. This way, everything is all set and ready for you when you get home with your new bundle of joy.

How Much Should I Budget for My Overnight Nanny?

We know these prices are all over the place, and you just want to know how much does a night nanny cost! To make sure you’re completely covered, we recommend over saving for these services and plan to spend between $300 - $600 per night, with $600 being on the higher end with a registered nurse.

This way, there are no surprises, and you know you’ll have everything covered. Plus, if it ends up being less, you have money left to explore and have fun in Rhode Island!

Rhode Island Makes Care More Affordable for Families

Rhode Island recently passed a bill that allows families to use private insurance and Medicaid to pay for perinatal doula services, and it’s a game-changer! The bill took effect January 1st, 2022, and by July 1st, 2022, Medicaid patients can take advantage as well! You can already start to take advantage of this bill at Baby Bloom Newborn Care.

We believe every single family deserves this care; it’s why we started our 5% fund. But now, by working with insurance companies, we’re able to give you the care that you deserve without breaking the bank.
