2nd visit: (2 hours): Postpartum Planning
During this evaluation, Doula will work with family to curate a postpartum plan and make necessary referrals.
3rd visit: (2 hours): Newborn Care Education
Description:
During this visit, you will learn:
Newborn essentials: This is all about newborn health and safety necessities and watch live demonstrations on how they are properly used.
The full term newborn: Learn what to expect when working with a full-term newborn and what to look for in skin, sensory development, reflexes, and appearance.
Breastfeeding: We will cover the benefits of breastfeeding for mother and baby, engorgement, latch, cluster feeding, hand expression, tips to boost milk supply, tongue tie, and when to contact an IBCLC.
Newborn care: It’s more than keeping newborns safe—it’s understanding the unique needs of newborns and how to care for them in all stages. Topics include the first bath, umbilical cord care, and hygiene.
Diapering: Learn how to handle diapering with ease and confidence while understanding how to properly care for diaper-related issues.
Bottle feedings: Introducing formula and solid foods are big steps for a breastfed baby. We’re covering all the bases so you can feel confident and informed when feeding time rolls around.
Soothing your newborn: Sometimes, newborns just need a bit of soothing to calm down and regain their center. However, there are safer and more effective ways to soothe than others—and we’re teaching you exactly what they are.
Tummy time: Transitioning to tummy time is an exciting milestone for both mother and baby. Learn how, where, when, and why you should implement tummy time with your baby.
Health and safety: Newborns get sick just like everyone else—but caring for a sick newborn is quite different than caring for your sick significant other. We’re preparing you to feel confident and knowledgeable, whether it’s just a slight cold or something more.
Sleep and sleep training: Sleepy time can be the most peaceful part of the day or the most frustrating—we’re preparing you for both. Topics include: Sleep cues, newborn sleep, SIDS, swaddling, sleep training, sleep conditioning, and a gentle and effective approach to sleep.
