The 5% Fund

When our founder first began working with newborns, she quickly learned there was a significant gap in the way our society supports new mothers. Many other cultures around the world are doing something extraordinarily right--especially in how they care for the postpartum woman. When a baby is born, the mother is supposed to recuperate, her activities are limited, and her female relatives take care of her. Her meals are prepared, the home is well-kept, and she has extra newborn support as she rests and recovers. Baby Bloom bridges the gap for families in Rhode Island and beyond.

But what about the families who cannot afford to pay for these services?

The 5% Fund was developed to remedy this problem. It is time that we recognize and meet the needs of postpartum women no matter their race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or income.

The health and wellness of our families depend on it.
